Inspire Me Thursday - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Posted Sunday, April 20 at 1:19 am by Kirsten

This week’s theme for Inspire Me Thursday is “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle”.

We always get lots of junk mail at our place (which Matt loves by the way!). We always recycle but this week I recycled the junk mail in a more interesting way:

\

I was thinking about the theme of reducing, reusing and recycling, and why we do these things. My goal was to use recycled paper (from a Big W catalouge) to show an image of what we are trying to save.

The background is made up of scraps from a Big W catalouge which I soaked in water with blue paint mixed in. I then stuck them down and covered with acrylic medium. When it was dry, I painted some blue paint over for the sky, but I left some of the paper visible. When that was dry I painted the tree.

Wow! That’s cool! You were up late last night finishing this too by the looks of it. At least you can sleep in today.

Such a creative idea and I love the way it makes you think of the impact of our ‘junk’ on the environment.

Very pretty and relaxing to look at. The perfect picture for this week with “Earth Day” tomorrow.

I really like this comment on recycling’s place in the environment! Would you mind if I used it as my desktop pattern? I won’t trade or sell it. Thanks!

Thanks for all the lovely comments!

Susan Jane, I don’t mind if you use this as your desktop pattern! Just please if anyone asks about it, let them know about my website - I am trying to sell some of my artwork so any publicity is good publicity!
