Thumb Relief

Posted Tuesday, March 25 at 10:19 pm by Matt

The blog is turning into the ‘Kirsten Craft Show’ at the moment (no offence my love, it’s just very you-focused right now!), so I thought I’d better post something. For all those Matt fans. All 4 of you. Whoever you are…

My thumbs breathed a sigh of relief on Saturday - I finally got a new mobile!

My old phone was giving me the shits in multiple ways - I’d dropped it twice, so there was a noticeable crack; it was less customisable than I wanted it to be; I kept copping lots of ‘your phone is chunky’ comments. But most of all, the keypad was just about stuffed. Some keys worked only if you pressed with the force of King Kong’s little finger (on the right hand of course, his left pinky was weak as piss). Others would spontaneously combust perform multiple lots of whatever you had just decided to do - scroll down, insert a character, etc… After not-so-long, my thumbs bore the brunt of this keypad-induced trauma and sought legal action against the phone. I on the other hand, thought that a bit extreme, and decided to hold out until my contract was up and just get a new phone - one with keys that worked by applying only moderate pressure.

This I finally did on Saturday (Kirsten is still waiting for hers, but that’s her story to tell), much to my (and my thumb’s) delight. For those interested, you can go and see what my new phone looks like (and my old one for comparison).

The phone comes in a semi-gloss black finish, with silver highlights and the odd bit of purple (including a pale purple keypad-backlight) for effect. Of course, in my 80’s Childhood Nostalgia™, I wasted no time in ripping off an existing theme creating and applying a matching Decepticon theme to my phone, complete with transforming noise message alert!

I look forward to receiving your calls and SMSes on my new phone :)

I’m glad you convinced your thumbs to drop their legal action against the phone. Those things never end well. Besides, all your old phone had to do was to get a few of it’s ‘chunky’ mates around and your thumbs would have been intimidated into dropping the charges anyway.

Oh yeah - nice phone! I really should take a closer look at it next time I see you..
